Dr Waleed Fateen is a consultant hepatologist and pancreato-biliary physician based in Oxford.

He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease, bile duct and gallbladder disorders, pancreatic conditions, and advanced therapeutic endoscopy.

Clinical experience

His clinical expertise includes metabolic liver disease (fat infiltration of the liver), autoimmune liver disease, cirrhosis, portal hypertension and liver cancer. A key focus of his practice is the evaluation, staging and prevention of liver disease.

FibroScan assessments

He performs FibroScan assessments to evaluate liver fibrosis and provides structured assessment of liver health to identify patients at risk of progressive liver disease.

Endoscopic treatments

He also offers endoscopic treatment for complications of liver disease including variceal management.

Dr Fateen has extensive experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and polypectomy.

He also performs advanced endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and ERCP for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic, bile duct, gallbladder and liver conditions.

He works in coordination with hepatobiliary surgeons and radiologists, and collaborates closely with specialist nutritionists, dietitians and health coaches to support patients in improving liver health and managing chronic digestive conditions.
