Dr Thomas Bloomfield

Dr Tom Bloomfield is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthetics, with his NHS practice based in Hampshire Hospitals.

Dr Bloomfield is an expert in diagnosing and treating a wide range of pain conditions, including musculoskeletal pain (such as back, knee, and neck pain) neuropathic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

Approach to patient care

He takes the time to understand each patient’s problem fully, beginning with a detailed history and thorough examination. His goal is to identify the root cause of pain, working methodically and using targeted investigations to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

By establishing the correct diagnosis, he is able to recommend the most effective and appropriate management plan. His approach is highly personalised, tailored to each individual’s needs and priorities.

His expertise and considerable network gained over many years of innovation and research, ensures he remains at the forefront of emerging technology and treatments.

He actively uses these advances, including AI and virtual reality, to transform patients’ pain journeys.

Education

He gained first class honours in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford and a distinction in Clinical Medicine at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ (GKT), London.

He holds Fellowship status with both the Faculty of Pain Medicine and the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Throughout his career he has been awarded several prizes and awards for teaching, clinical performance and research.
