About

Dr Tidswell is a highly experienced Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology, specialising in the diagnosis and assessment of disorders affecting the nerves, muscles, and neuromuscular junction. With a broad clinical background in both adult and paediatric medicine, Dr Tidswell brings a comprehensive and holistic approach to neurological care.

Dr Tidswell completed specialist training in Clinical Neurophysiology at leading centres of excellence, including University College London Hospitals (UCLH), the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Great Ormond Street Hospital. This training has provided extensive expertise in advanced diagnostic testing and the evaluation of complex neuromuscular conditions.

Special interests

Dr Tidswell has a wide-ranging clinical interest in the diagnosis of peripheral nerve and neuromuscular disorders, including both common and rare conditions. Areas of expertise include:

  • Nerve entrapment syndromes, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar neuropathy
  • Radiculopathies, including cervical and lumbar nerve root compression (often associated with neck and lower back problems)
  • Peripheral neuropathies, both acquired and inherited
  • Muscle disorders (myopathies)
  • Neuromuscular junction disorders, such as myasthenia gravis

Using specialised diagnostic techniques, including nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG), Dr Tidswell is able to accurately identify the underlying causes of symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, muscle pain, and fatigue.

Approach to Patient Care

Dr Tidswell is committed to delivering precise, evidence-based diagnosis, supported by clear communication and patient understanding. Neuromuscular symptoms can often be complex and concerning; therefore, Dr Tidswell ensures patients receive a thorough evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and clear explanation of findings.

By combining advanced neurophysiological testing with broad clinical knowledge, Dr Tidswell provides high-quality care aimed at identifying the cause of symptoms, guiding treatment decisions, and improving patient outcomes.
