About
Dr Theofilos
Polychronakis is a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine in Addenbrooke’s
University Hospital in Cambridge. He trained at the Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki in Greece before moving to London in 2009. He completed a MSc in
Allergy at Imperial College and trained in paediatrics in various London
hospitals and has more than 10 years of clinical experience. He undertook
sub-speciality training in paediatric respiratory medicine at the Royal
Brompton Hospital and in Cambridge. He trained in paediatric sleep
medicine and long term ventilation as a senior fellow at Great Ormond street
Hospital. Dr Polychronakis holds the paediatric HERMES diploma awarded by the
European Respiratory Society. His clinical interests include paediatric sleep
medicine, asthma, recurrent respiratory infections . He leads the Paediatric
Sleep service in CUH and is a member of the asthma, Cystic Fibrosis and
scoliosis MDT.

Chronic cough and recurrent respiratory infections, Asthma (pre-school, paediatric), airborne allergies and rhinitis, paediatric sleep, lung function, scoliosis, respiratory care of children with neuromuscular diseases.

Research
Dr Polychronakis has completed a MSc in Allergy at Imperial College, London. His thesis was titled: “Asthma and the role of bacterial exposure and infections: a systematic review” with Professor Sebastian Johnston, Imperial College, director of MRC and Asthma UK centre.
He is a published author at the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis and has presented at the RCPCH, ESPINIC and UENPS conferences. He has also presented at the European respiratory Society international conference. He continues to be actively involved in research locally in the Paediatric respiratory department in Cambridge.
