About

I am a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist based in Derby. I specialise in diagnosing and treating heart conditions, particularly using procedures such as angioplasty and stenting to open narrowed or blocked arteries.

I provide private care at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital. I also work in the NHS at Royal Derby Hospital, where I have played a leading role in developing heart services.

My aim is to provide clear diagnosis, effective treatment and reassurance, helping you recover and return to normal life.

About me

I qualified in medicine from King Edward Medical University in Lahore. I then moved to the UK and completed my early medical training in the North West of England.

I carried out a two‑year clinical research fellowship in cardiology at City Hospital Birmingham. I then completed my specialist cardiology training at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.

After completing my training, I was appointed as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Royal Derby Hospital.

Experience and achievements

I have played a key role in developing heart services in Derbyshire. I helped set up the coronary intervention service in the region.

I also led the development of the Primary PCI service in Derby. This is an emergency treatment for heart attacks that allows patients to be treated quickly and locally, without needing to travel elsewhere. This work helped establish Royal Derby Hospital as a recognised heart attack centre.

  • Chest pain and coronary heart disease (narrowing of heart arteries)
  • Heart attacks and emergency heart conditions
  • Heart failure (when the heart cannot pump effectively)
  • Palpitations and heart rhythm problems

Specialist procedures and tests

I carry out a range of advanced heart procedures, including:

  • Coronary angioplasty and stenting (to open blocked arteries)
  • Coronary angiography (tests to assess blood flow in the heart arteries)
  • Complex procedures, including rotablation (treating hardened artery blockages)
  • Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), which gives detailed images inside arteries

I also arrange and interpret tests such as:

  • Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound)
  • ECG and exercise stress tests (heart rhythm testing)
  • 24‑hour heart monitoring
  • Pacemaker implantation and cardioversion (treatment for abnormal heart rhythms)

Outside of work, I enjoy sports. I play table tennis, badminton and cricket. I also play in the Derbyshire Table Tennis League.
