About
Dr Syed Hassan is a Consultant Chest Physician with dual specialist accreditation in Respiratory Medicine and Internal Medicine, alongside tertiary expertise in Sleep Medicine.
He is a substantive consultant at East Kent NHS Trust, working across Kent and Canterbury Hospital and William Harvey Hospital (Ashford). Dr Hassan leads the Lung Cancer Diagnostic Service and serves as Co-Chair of the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Meeting (MDM) at William Harvey Hospital. He brings over a decade of experience in respiratory and sleep medicine to his clinical practice.

Dr Hassan specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of respiratory conditions, including:
- Breathlessness, chronic cough, wheeze, and unexplained weight loss
- Snoring and sleep-related breathing disorders
- Lung cancer
- Pleural diseases
- Asthma and COPD
- Interstitial lung disease (lung fibrosis)
- Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)
He also performs advanced interventional procedures such as:
- Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and EUS-B

- Harefield Hospital (lung transplantation)
