Dr Suman Kundu

Dr Suman Kundu is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist based in Shrewsbury and Telford. He has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of heart failure and heart rhythm conditions (arrhythmias).

Dr Kundu completed his specialist cardiology training at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester before being appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust in 2013. Alongside his clinical work, he is the Shropshire Heart Failure Lead, playing an important role in shaping and improving heart failure services across the region.

Clinical expertise and procedures

Dr Kundu manages a broad range of cardiac conditions, including:

• Heart failure
• Heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias)
• Long-term and complex heart conditions
• Care of patients with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs)

He also carries out and oversees a range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including:

• ECGs and ambulatory heart monitoring (e.g. Holter monitoring)
• Echocardiography
• Cardioversion for the treatment of certain arrhythmias
• Pacemaker and ICD implantation and follow-up
• Heart failure optimisation and device therapy management
