Dr Weatherby is an experienced Consultant Neurologist offering private consultations for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. He specialises in the accurate diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of disorders affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system, delivering expert care in a professional clinic setting.
Dr Weatherby provides comprehensive assessment and management for patients experiencing symptoms such as headache, dizziness, weakness, numbness, memory problems, or neurological pain. His approach combines detailed clinical evaluation with tailored treatment and therapy plans to support both acute and long-term conditions.

Clinical leadership, training and research
Dr Weatherby is the Clinical Director of the Neurology Department at University Hospitals Plymouth and serves as the Clinical Lead for Stroke Care, demonstrating his leadership in both acute and specialist neurological services. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor at Plymouth University Medical School, contributing to medical education and research.
He co-directs both the Peninsula Headache Network and the Peninsula Motor Neurone Disease Network, supporting high standards of care and collaborative treatment pathways across the region.
Dr Weatherby qualified from the University of Bristol and completed his training in general medicine in North Staffordshire and Oxford. He undertook specialist neurology training at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Birmingham, and holds a research degree focused on genetic factors in multiple sclerosis, supporting his expertise in complex neurological diagnosis and treatment.
He also completed additional subspecialist training in headache disorders at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, a leading centre for neurological care.

Dr Weatherby has published in various aspects of general neurology and co-written several book chapters including for the Oxford Handbook of Headache. He is a co-author of national imaging guidance for primary care management of acute headache conditions and is currently involved in developing national guidance for the management of headache disorders.
