About

Dr Srilakshmi (Sri) Sharma is a Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist who has been caring for patients at Oxford Eye Hospital since 2013. She also sees private patients at The Manor Hospital, Oxford.

Dr Sharma is a general ophthalmologist and also specialises in three areas:

1. Uveitis and scleritis  (ocular inflammation) in adults and children
2. Neuro-ophthalmology
3. Medical retina conditions including macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.

She leads the Thames Valley Regional Ocular Inflammation Service, one of the largest in the UK, and heads the neuro-ophthalmology service at Oxford Eye Hospital. Her training in both general medicine and ophthalmology means she is experienced in managing eye problems linked to conditions elsewhere in the body, such as rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoidosis, and the effects of medications including cancer treatments and hydroxychloroquine.

Dr Sharma is founder and Chair of the UK Uveitis National Clinical Study Group and co-chief investigator of the national ASTUTE trial. She trained at Bristol, completed international fellowships at the Casey Eye Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital in the United States, and previously was a consultant  at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She is rated 4.86 out of 5 on Doctify. Dr Sharma also provides expert medicolegal reports in ophthalmology for personal injury and clinical negligence cases
