About
Dr Weaver qualified from Oxford in 1993 and subsequently trained in Oxford, Bath, Cambridge, Sydney and Bournemouth. During his training he completed a PhD in inflammation at the University of Bath and specialised in Inflammatory Bowel Disease – Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. As a consultant he has been a national colonoscopy trainer and a national bowel cancer screening colonscopist.
Dr Weaver has developed an interest in patient safety and quality improvement and in the national quality improvement lead for inflammatory bowel disease for the Royal College of Physicians. In 2019 he was appointed deputy medical director for the Healthcare Safety Investigation Board – a national body doing investigations to promote patient safety.
