Dr Sajjad Ali is a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology with over 17 years of international experience across the NHS and private healthcare sector. He brings extensive clinical, academic, and operational expertise to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred neurophysiology services.
He has partnered with several leading NHS Trusts, delivering Consultant-led services that support timely diagnosis, effective treatment pathways, and achievement of NHS performance targets. His practice is underpinned by robust clinical governance, adherence to national standards, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Dr Ali has a specialist interest in peripheral nerve and neuromuscular disorders, with advanced expertise in nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), and single-fibre EMG. He is recognised for his diagnostic precision and commitment to evidence-based care.
Teaching
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Ali is actively involved in education and training. He has developed and delivered neurophysiology training programmes and workshops both within the UK and internationally, including in the UAE, Morocco, and Pakistan.

Previous highlights
- Multi-centre study: Reference values for jitter recorded by concentric needle electrodes in healthy controls; developed reference jitter values via concentric needle electrode recordings from signals of defined quality while mitigating abnormal values.
- Research project: Small fibre-function in sub-clinical peripheral neuropathy in patients with untreated hypertension; organised project, secured National Research Ethics Service approval and grant of ~£50K. Identified that sensory-perceptual deficits in hypertension may be mediated by changes in peripheral nerve function and more specifically, axonal degeneration.
- Clinical trial: Contributed to electro-diagnostic evaluation of patients in a randomised control trial: “assessment of the effectiveness of taurine on pain scores and neurophysiological findings in patients with diabetic small fibre neuropathy.”
- Dissertation: Completed retrospective review of post stroke-seizure case series.
