I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Derby. I work at Derby Teaching Hospitals and see private patients at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.

I specialise in digestive health, including endoscopy procedures and bowel cancer screening. My aim is to provide clear diagnosis and effective treatment to help improve your symptoms and long‑term health.

I originally trained as a pharmacist before studying medicine at Leicester and Warwick Medical Schools. I qualified as a doctor in 2005.

I completed my specialist training in gastroenterology in Nottingham. I then undertook an endoscopy research fellowship in Sheffield.

I also completed an MD degree focusing on the detection and removal of bowel polyps. I have published research in this area and continue to be involved in teaching. I am an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham School of Medicine.

Areas of expertise

I diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive conditions, including:

• Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis)
• Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Indigestion (dyspepsia)
• Acid reflux (GORD)
• Coeliac disease (a reaction to gluten)
• Abdominal pain
• Iron deficiency anaemia
• Bowel cancer and bowel polyps

I am also an accredited bowel cancer screening specialist.

Specialist procedures

I am highly experienced in endoscopy procedures. These are tests that look inside the digestive system, including:

• Gastroscopy (to examine the stomach and food pipe)
• Colonoscopy (to examine the bowel and remove polyps if needed)

I provide both diagnostic tests and treatments during these procedures.
