About
Dr Ray Mathew is a Gastroenterologist with expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine and interventional endoscopy. He works at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
He trained in the West Midlands and has been the Clinical Director of Gastroenterology, the Clinical Director of Endoscopy and is the current Trust Lead Clinician for Cancer. He has designed and built 3 JAG Accredited Endoscopy Units and has an active role in local and regional service restoration and recovery in Endoscopy and Cancer Services.
Dr Mathew has established a large clinical practice in the management of acid reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and gastrointestinal cancer and is active in clinical research and training. His areas of specialist expertise include the management of gastrointestinal cancer, pancreatic disease and disorders of the bile duct.
In addition to advanced gastroscopy and colonoscopy, he is an expert in ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound EUS. He is an endoscopy trainer and is faculty at the West Midlands Endoscopy Training Centre. He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, the Royal College of Physicians of London, the British Medical Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association.

Gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and biliary cancer, pancreatic disease and disorders of the bile duct.
