Dr Omay Lee is a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist and Physician specialising in neuromuscular disorders and peripheral nerve diseases. Her NHS practice is at Royal Surrey County Hospital Guildford and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust London. At the Royal Surrey Hospital she is also the Lead Physician for her Specialty and also supervises the electrophysiology diagnostic service.
Dr Lee undertook her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Cambridge, with an intercalated degree in Natural Sciences, completing her clinical training in London. She then undertook foundation training at Wessex deanery with medical and surgical rotations in Southampton General Hospital, then postgraduate core and higher training in Edinburgh with posts in psychiatry, general acute and internal medicine, and neurology. She then completed a clinical research fellowship at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, undertaking basic laboratory research in neurodevelopmental genetics. She then completed higher specialist training in Clinical Neurophysiology in London at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Great Ormond Street Hospital, which included experience in both Neurophysiology and Neurology, with a CCT in Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr Lee is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey Medical School, and is actively involved in teaching medical students. She also trains junior doctors. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2023. She has many professional memberships and affiliations including British Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN), Association of British Neurologists (ABN) and British Peripheral Nerve Society (BPNS).
At the Nuffield Hospital, she provides a full neuromuscular service using EMG and nerve conduction studies. She commonly assesses patients with acute or chronic nerve and muscle conditions, including entrapment neuropathies, nerve root problems, peripheral neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, as well as more rare nerve and muscle conditions.
