About
Dr Nilushi Weerapperuma is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician with a special interest in Paediatric Development and Neurodisability.
Initially trained as a general paediatrician, she now works exclusively in the field of development and neurodiversity.
Education and experience
She has MD in Paediatrics and has Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Neurodisability in the UK with merit.
She specialises in child development, neurodisability and neurodiversity, including autism and ADHD.
She has worked as a Paediatric Neurodisability Consultant at the Ryegate Centre, Sheffield Children's, which is one of the UK's tertiary paediatric Neurodisability and ADHD services. She is now a Consultant Paediatrician at Oxford University Hospitals, in Developmental and Community Paediatrics.
She has extensive experience in autism and ADHD assessments and management in children and young people. She is trained in assessment tools such as DIVA, ACE, ADOS, RCADs and Qb.
Leadership and research
She has led many multidisciplinary teams for complex patient management and has worked with other agencies, including children’s mental health and education.
She has presented papers at the Royal College conferences and attends international conferences as a resource person. She regularly updates herself with new developments in the field.
