About

Dr Sargant graduated from Imperial College in 2002 and has worked in haematology since 2005. He worked as a Consultant at Hampshire Hospitals for almost ten years before relocating back to the south coast.

Whilst at Hampshire, he collaborated with the peritoneal malignancy team to optimise the management of massive surgical blood loss in these high‑risk patients. He contributed to developing transfusion and coagulation guidelines that formed the basis of the pivotal FORMA‑05 trial, which led to European marketing authorisation of fibrinogen concentrate in acquired hypofibrinogenaemia. Dr Sargant chaired the hospital and regional transfusion committees whilst on the National Blood Transfusion Committee helping in the development of national blood transfusion guidelines.

Dr Sargant has extensive expertise across a range of malignant and non‑malignant haematological disorders. His clinical and academic work includes involvement in numerous national trials, such as the MRC AML15–19 studies and the UKALL11 and UKALL60 trials. He has also served as Principal Investigator for several studies, including the MEASURES trial in myeloproliferative neoplasms and the FLIGHT trial in immune thrombocytopenia.

He has a longstanding commitment to medical education, teaching both medical students and haematology trainees throughout his career. He is currently the lead for final‑year medical students in Eastbourne.
