About
Dr Pye trained in General Medicine at Cardiff and Manchester and did most of his Cardiology training in Glasgow Royal Infirmary and St Georges Hospital, London.
He was awarded an MD with Distinction in 1992. He works as a Consultant Cardiologist in a busy district/teaching hospital seeing patients with a wide range of cardiological conditions in outpatients and in the emergency and coronary care unit.
Dr Pye has a special interest in Ischaemic heart disease, coronary intervention, cardiac imaging and cardiac pacing. He has special expertise in the areas of coronary intervention (angioplasty and stenting), cardiac pacemakers and cardiac arrythmias. He also has a wide experience of general cardiological conditions such as hypertension, heart failure, palpitations and syncope (fainting).
Dr Pye prides himself on providing an up to date evidence based practice – utilising the latest diagnostic imaging and treatments along with nearly 20 years experience as a Consultant Cardiologist. However each patient has his /her own expectations, ideas and wishes for treatment and management – this must remain paramount in planning the care and treatment plan for each individual patient.
Dr Pye is always prepared to see patients urgently. New UK patients should (when possible) obtain a referral letter from either their general practitioner or referring specialist. Dr Maurice Pye has published widely in major peer review journals since 1984 in the following areas: echocardiography, ischaemic heart disease, cardiac dysrhythmias. Research interests include ischaemic heart disease, cholesterol and arrhythmias.
He has led a highly regarded research team at York Hospital involved in major multicentre trials since 2000.
