About
Dr Matthew Thomas is a full-time MSK Fellowship-trained consultant in musculoskeletal radiology at University Hospital Southampton.
He is part of a small group comprising of Dr M Thomas, Dr L King, Dr M Sampson, Dr V Skiadas and Dr P McNee.
He graduated from Cambridge University in 1994. After successfully completing a basic surgical training rotation Dr Thomas was selected on to the St George’s London Radiology Training Programme and then completed a yearlong fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology University Hospital Southampton UK (UHS).
He has been MSK Educational and MSK department lead at University Hospital Southampton. He has taught on the Southampton Sports and Exercise Medicine course and has been involved in MSK radiology and medical training for over 15 years. He is also part of the tertiary referral spinal team at UHS.

- Spinal imaging and image-guided spinal intervention
- Musculoskeletal diagnostic and image-guided intervention in all modalities
- Bone and soft tissue tumour imaging including image-guided biopsy
- Joint, tendon and bursal injections
- Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections.
