About
Dr Bridges is an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist with extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions. After graduating from Leicester University in 1994, he completed postgraduate medical training in Northampton, London and Newcastle before being appointed as a Consultant at the University Hospital of North Tees. He later moved to Darlington Memorial Hospital in 2008, where he continues to practise.
Dr Bridges specialises in the assessment and treatment of patients with inflammatory arthritis, degenerative joint disease and soft tissue rheumatic conditions, including:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis and spondyloarthropathies
- Soft tissue rheumatism (including tendinopathies and bursitis)
- Osteoporosis and bone health disorders
Dr Bridges offers a range of specialist rheumatology investigations and procedures, including:
- Joint injections (corticosteroid injections) for pain and inflammation
- Management of osteoporosis, including fracture risk assessment and treatment
- Assessment and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome
- Use of disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and biologic therapies
- Comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment
