About
Dr Maneesha Vatve is a Consultant Dermatologist with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of skin conditions. She has worked in the North East since 2008 and holds an NHS post at Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham.
Dr Vatve specialises in the assessment and treatment of both common and complex skin problems, including:
- Inflammatory skin conditions (such as eczema and psoriasis)
- Skin rashes and long-term skin conditions
- Benign and malignant skin lesions
- Skin cancer assessment and treatment
She has experience using advanced treatments, including:
- Phototherapy (light therapy)
- Immunosuppressive medications (DMARDs)
- Biological therapies for severe skin disease
Skin procedures
Dr Vatve performs a full range of dermatology procedures and minor skin surgery, including:
- Mole and skin lesion removal
- Skin cancer surgery
- Diagnostic skin biopsies
- Shave excision
- Curettage and cautery
She also treats more specialist conditions, such as:
- Keloid and hypertrophic scars (including steroid injections)
- Alopecia areata (hair loss)
- Female genital skin conditions

Personal interests
Outside of work, Dr Vatve enjoys music, dancing and painting, particularly landscapes and nature. She is currently taking lessons in Bollywood dancing.

Research
Dr Vatve is actively involved in research and is one of the top recruiters in the country to the BADBIR study for psoriasis. She is also involved in other studies like B-STOP, ADR study and Secucinumab trial for psoriasis. In development are home grown studies such as phototherapy efficacy in eczema and she is hoping to get involved in more portfolio studies.
