About
Dr Gompels originally trained at Cambridge. He undertook specialist training in General Medicine and Rheumatology in London based at The Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals. He undertook research at the internally renowned National Heart and Lung Institute and Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and has recently published a number of internationally recognised research papers and was awarded a PhD in 2010.
He has been a representative on a number of national committees and has a published a series of best selling educational books for doctors in training.
He has a broad range of experience in medical and rheumatological disorders. His focus is on providing a compassionate and thorough service with a clear management plan for investigation and treatment.

Personal interests
Dr Gompels is married to Sasha who is a teacher and they have 3 children. When he has time he manages to run triathlons for Arthritis Research UK and has competed up to half iron man distance. He is a passionate cyclist and also tries to keep the kids and garden under control but rarely succeeds at either!
