Dr Leon Creaney is a highly experienced Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) with a subspecialist interest in musculoskeletal medicine. His clinical practice focuses on the non-surgical assessment and management of sports injuries, spinal conditions and exercise-related medical problems, helping patients recover from pain, optimise performance and return safely to activity.

Dr Creaney treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions from head to toe, including neck, shoulder, back, hip, groin, knee, leg, foot and ankle disorders. He has a particular interest in lower back pain, sports injuries and performance medicine, and regularly manages athletes with overuse injuries, tendon disorders, joint pain, fatigue and overtraining.

He qualified in medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2001 and became a Consultant on the GMC Specialist Register in 2009. His postgraduate training included the London Sports Medicine rotation, working across the Olympic Medical Centre, DMRC Headley Court, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.

Dr Creaney has held NHS Consultant posts in Sheffield, Manchester, Warrington and University Hospital Birmingham, and has run specialist sports medicine and musculoskeletal clinics in Manchester since 2010.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Creaney has an extensive career in elite sport. He has worked internationally with over 20 teams across athletics, football, rugby and multi-sport events. He is a former Team Doctor for Liverpool FC Women and Great Britain Gymnastics, and previously served as Chief Medical Officer for GB Taekwondo and Team Doctor for British Athletics. He has attended multiple international championships, including the Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and World Medical Games.
