Dr Kevin Yoong

Dr Kevin Yoong is a consultant gastroenterologist and the Clinical Director of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for Cheshire.

He has special interests in therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy and is endoscopy training lead and therefore actively involved in training at Leighton Hospital.

In 2007 he was appointed to his current post of Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician at Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He will therefore give you the experience of a London-trained doctor in Cheshire.

He is also the lead consultant for the highly regarded Cheshire Gut Clinic.

Dr Yoong has extensive experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic sub-mucosal diset, including:

• Gastroscopy (OGD) – investigation of symptoms such as indigestion, reflux, difficulty swallowing, anaemia, and upper‑GI bleeding
• Colonoscopy – diagnosis and treatment for bowel symptoms, polyp detection, and bowel cancer screening
• Advanced endoscopic procedures, including:
  • Polypectomy
  • Treatment of varices
  • Stricture dilatation
  • Stent insertions.

Education

He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1993. He continued his training at major teaching hospital in London and Liverpool.

He spent two years at St George’s Hospital as a Lecturer and Research Fellow researching new models of care and gastroenterology. During this time, his research findings were published in peer reviewed journals and he presented these findings at the Royal College of Physicians of London.
