About

Dr Jacob is a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist with a special interest in advanced endoscopic procedures. He plays a key role in bowel cancer screening and leads the colorectal multidisciplinary team (MDT), helping to coordinate expert care for patients with complex conditions.

Dr Jacob specialises in minimally invasive techniques to treat polyps and other abnormalities in the digestive tract, including:

  • Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
  • Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in both the upper and lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract
  • Full thickness resection for complex polyps

He also performs and reports on capsule endoscopy – a non-invasive test using a small camera to examine the small bowel and colon.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Jacob is passionate about education. He regularly teaches at the United European Gastroenterology Summer School, helping train future specialists from across Europe in advanced endoscopy techniques.

Special interests

Dr Jacob’s clinical interests lie in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance endoscopy, improving the quality and safety of endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures, managing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), performing polypectomies and interpreting capsule endoscopy.
