About
Dr Nwokolo completed her medical degree in 1987 and trained in psychiatry within the highly respected UK Oxford University Psychiatric training programme. She is a Specialist Associate Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds postgraduate qualifications in Healthcare Management and Marketing, reflecting her commitment to high-quality clinical practice and service development.
She has held consultant posts within the NHS Mental Health services and has extensive experience in both community, forensic, CAMHS and acute settings. In addition to clinical work, she has contributed to innovative service redesign, quality improvement, and teaching within psychiatry.
She has also held consultant posts within several Priory and other private hospitals including consultant lead at the Blandford Priory hospital for neurodiverse children for which she was invited to successfully generate and support innovative, developmental change in a hospital that had failed CQC.
Dr Nwokolo, a keen mental health advocate, is committed to delivering thoughtful, attentive and personalised psychiatric care. She works in partnership with patients to understand their needs, develop clear treatment plans, and support long-term recovery and wellbeing.

Dr Isioma Nwokolo is an experienced Functional Medicine Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 34 years’ in Psychiatry, working across the NHS, Armed forces, other Government Medical establishments and the private sector including the Priory. She provides comprehensive assessments, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions affecting adults, with a special clinical interest in ADHD, Autism, Personality Disorders, Addictions, stress-related disorders, mood disorders, Elite Athletes, and executive-performance–related mental health challenges.
Functional Medicine Psychiatry is an innovative approach that combines the context and applications of functional medicine with traditional Psychiatric care. It involves a comprehensive assessment of different factors that could be influencing one’s mental wellbeing, including genetics, lifestyle, diet, environmental factors and other aspects of routine life.
Dr Nwokolo is known for her warm, patient-centred, holistic approach and her ability to integrate medical expertise with personalised care. Alongside conventional psychiatric treatment, she incorporates evidence-based lifestyle, behavioural and nutritional strategies where appropriate. Her international experience includes working as a civilian doctor for the Nigerian Airforce and Army, working in collaboration with the United Nations Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA, Nigeria) to combat substance misuse and Drug demand reduction, working in collaboration with the United Nations Committee for female refugees (UNHCR).
