About
Dr Ioana Onac works as substantive Consultant Rheumatologist in UHSussex since January 2023. In this role she has general rheumatology and specialised CTD / vasculitis and myositis clinics.
She graduated in 2004. She successfully completed CCT in Rehabilitation Medicine (2005-2011) and her PhD (2012). She continued with an additional CCT - specialty training in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine (2016-2022).
During her Rheumatology training she developed a specific interest in connective tissue disease (CTD), myositis and vasculitis. Pursuing this interest, she had extra training in CTD at King's College London.
She is also involved in research, having published 12 articles and contributed to one medical textbook chapter.
She is passionate about sharing medical knowledge and provides rheumatology lectures to the BSMS medical students.
She is a member of the British Medical Association and the British Society of Rheumatology.

Dr Onac is actively involved in research being principal investigator and sub-investigator in a few clinical trials currently as she has been throughout her training. She has successfully completed her PhD in Chronic sciatic pain secondary to lumbar disk hernia, in 2012. She has published 12 papers and contributed to 1 medical textbook chapter during her career.
