About
Professor Ibrahim Fahal is a senior Consultant Nephrologist at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital, with extensive expertise in the investigation and management of acute and chronic kidney disease. His clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of nephrology, including glomerular disease, hypertensive renal disease, diabetic nephropathy, electrolyte disorders, and renal complications of systemic illness. Professor Fahal has been a consultant since 1997 and holds a substantive NHS post at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, where he leads on complex renal medicine and contributes to multidisciplinary care pathways. He is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, with an active role in postgraduate training and clinical education.

Research
ProfessorFahal's research interest is in muscle weakness and fatigue in patients with chronic kidney disease, which led to an MD degree from the University of Liverpool. He has continued with these interests and has now joined the term "uraemic sarcopenia" to highlight the problem of muscle wasting in patients with chronic kidney disease.
