Dr Hannah Cookson is a Consultant Dermatologist at the Nuffield Exeter and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
She graduated from Bristol University medical school (MBChB). She underwent her dermatology specialist training at the world-renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guys and St Thomas’s Hospital in London and was appointed as a consultant there in 2017. As a consultant at St John’s, Dr Cookson was part of the award winning severe eczema clinic and she continues to have a specialist interest in the treatment of eczema in both adults and children.
Dr Cookson designed and led the first community dermatology service at St John’s, and is actively involved in the training of GPs and junior doctors in dermatology.
In 2020 she relocated to Devon with her young family to take up her current consultant post.
Dr Cookson believes patients should be fully informed and actively involved in all their treatment decisions and has won prizes for her dedication to patient care (Kings Commendation for outstanding patient care 2014, GSTT Care Awards Letter of Commendation 2020).
She sees all dermatological
presentations in both adults and children. Her special interests include:
- hair problems
- genital dermatology
- mole checks
- skin cancer.
Dr Cookson specialises in medical and paediatric dermatology. Her areas of interest include general dermatology, mole checks, and the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. Her subspecialty interests include eczema, psoriasis, urticaria and acne. She is happy to diagnose and treat all skin conditions.
