About
Dr. Farhan Gohar is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist based at University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust, Royal Stoke University Hospital. He was awarded his FRCP (London) in 2020 and holds a European Board certification in Gastroenterology & Hepatology (FEBGH).
Dr. Gohar’s clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of Hepatology and Gastroenterology. He delivers high-volume endoscopy services, including bowel cancer screening and portal hypertension lists, and runs specialist clinics in general Hepatology, liver cancer, and post-transplant care. He is an accredited JAG independent endoscopist and trainer, with extensive experience in diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
He has subspecialty expertise in transplant hepatology and liver intensive care, having completed advanced fellowships at King’s College Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. His research includes publications in Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, American journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, UEG journal, Frontline Gastroenterology and he serves as Principal Investigator for national clinical trials.
Dr. Gohar is Course Director for the JAG Basic Skills in Upper GI Endoscopy course and an examiner at Keele Medical School. He holds active memberships with the BSG,UEG, EASL, BASL and ESGE.
