About
Dr Ellen Golightly is a highly experienced Consultant in Gynaecology and Sexual and Reproductive Health, with specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of menopause and perimenopause.
Dr Golightly offers personalised, evidence-based menopause treatment through a dedicated women’s health clinic. She supports patients with complex medical histories, early or surgical menopause, and those experiencing ongoing symptoms despite previous hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
She also provides expert care for women with contraindications to standard HRT, offering alternative treatments and tailored therapeutic approaches to improve quality of life.
Her wider clinical expertise includes medical gynaecology, the diagnosis and management of complex contraception needs, and comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare.
She provides holistic support across all life stages, from contraception and fertility considerations through to menopause and post-menopausal care.
Clinical experience
She has extensive experience as an NHS Consultant and currently practises at the Chalmers Centre in Edinburgh, delivering specialist care in a leading clinical setting.
Education
Dr Golightly qualified in medicine from the University of Edinburgh and completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South-East Scotland.
She holds MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) and FSRH (Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare) qualifications, alongside a Master’s degree in Public Health.
She is fully accredited by the British Menopause Society (BMS), recognising her advanced clinical knowledge in managing complex menopause-related symptoms and providing specialist hormone therapy care.
