Dr Golightly qualified in medicine from the University of
Edinburgh in 2002. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training
in Edinburgh and South‑East Scotland, where she developed a strong
subspecialty interest in sexual health and menopause care during her
higher specialist training.
She completed doctoral research into preterm birth, demonstrating a strong academic foundation, and was awarded a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Manchester. This qualification underpins her holistic, population‑health‑informed approach to menopause care, contraception, and women’s health.

Consultant Experience
Following completion of specialist training, Dr Golightly
worked as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Edinburgh and
Livingston. She subsequently took up her current role as an NHS
Consultant in Gynaecology and Sexual Health at the Chalmers Centre, Edinburgh,
where she continues to practise.
Her extensive NHS consultant experience ensures care that is clinically robust, evidence‑based, and aligned with national guidelines, while remaining compassionate and patient‑centred.
