Dr Dipti Chitnavis has been a Consultant Haematologist since 2003, with experience in all aspects of clinical and laboratory haematology. She trained in Cambridge, London, and at the Haemophilia Centre in Oxford, where she developed a special interest in bleeding disorders. She went on to complete a clinical research fellowship in Sydney, Australia, becoming the first clinical research fellow in Haematology at the Royal North Shore Hospital where she focused on antiphospholipid syndrome and the development of new laboratory techniques.
Dr Chitnavis is currently a Consultant Haematologist at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, where she developed the hospital’s haematology clinical and laboratory services. As the lead haematology consultant for blood clotting and bleeding disorders, she established both the anticoagulation and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) services. She is also a founding member of the hospital’s Thrombosis Committee, which won a national award for its work in thrombosis prevention in 2013.
