About
Dr Daniel Velasco is a highly experienced consultant in paediatric cardiology and in catheter-based techniques (key-hole surgery) to treat children and adults who are born with heart defects.
He completed his training at three different centres, the San Joan de Deu Hospital in Barcelona, Spain, the Sainte Justine Hospital in Montreal, Canada and the Leeds General Infirmary in Leeds, United Kingdom.
With more than 18 years of experience, he is currently one of the senior consultant paediatric cardiologists and cardiac catheter interventionists at the Leeds General Infirmary Congenital Heart Centre.
He is also the visiting Paediatric Cardiologist at Sheffield Children’s Hospital supporting the local group of cardiac specialised paediatricians.
Having a teenage girl and young twins’ boys, Dr Velasco Sanchez understands the anxiety and stress that comes with being a parent and needing prompt and specialised medical advice. This has been his main reason for wanting to support the children’s cardiology service at the Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital.
In addition, he has a dedicated clinic for adult patients with Congenital Heart Defects (ACHD) who require treatment with catheter-based techniques, including transcatheter device occlusion of patent foramen ovale (PFO).

- Transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation.
