Dr Catherine Cashell

Dr Catherine Cashell qualified from King’s College London in 2011.  Dr Cashell completed her anaesthetic training in South East London working in a range of teaching hospitals (Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital) and district general hospitals in the region. Dr Cashell undertook specialist pain training for 6 months in Medway Maritime hospital and furthered her experience by completing training for 1 year in the chronic pain centre in St Thomas’ hospital in London. During this training she completed the FFPMRCA specialist pain exams. She became a consultant in anaesthesia and chronic pain in December 2023 taking up a post in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust. She has a special interest in chronic cervical and lumbar spinal pain, acute and chronic sciatica, pelvis pain and complex regional pain syndrome. She also has a special interest in cancer pain working closely with the oncologists and palliative care teams at the Kent Oncology centre at MTW Trust.  Specialist procedures include facet joint injections, sacroiliac joint injections, epidurals, radiofrequency denervation to the lumbar and sacroiliac regions. She has a keen interest in pain training teaching medical students, local GP’s and doctors wanting to specialise in pain medicine. She has taken on the role of college tutor in the region for the faculty of pain medicine under the royal college of anaesthetists.
