Dr Milestone studied medicine at Imperial College London.  

He subsequently trained in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and General Internal Medicine in Hammersmith, St Mary’s, Charing Cross and St Mark’s hospitals, all internationally recognised centres of excellence in Gastroenterology. He spent the final 3 years of his training treating complex gut diseases, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Irritable Bowel Disease. He is a fully JAG accredited endoscopist and trained at the Wolfson Endoscopy Unit, the only centre in the UK with the distinguished status of OMED World Centre of Excellence for Endoscopic Training and Research. He is also a Faculty member on National courses teaching colonoscopy to other endoscopists.

Dr Milestone is experienced in the management of all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver disorders, comprehensively assessing and investigating your symptoms, before recommending appropriate individualised treatment.

Dr Milestone works closely with an extensive multidisciplinary team of colleagues, including consultant surgeons and radiologists (X-ray), dietitians and psychologists. In particular, patients diagnosed with cancer are managed in close collaboration other experts from the 3 Counties Cancer Network, including chemotherapy/ radiotherapy specialists (oncologists), histopathologists, and MacMillan specialist nurses in order to select the best evidence-based treatment tailored to the patient’s own circumstances. Dr Milestone will refer you as appropriate, introduce and support your case.

Dr Milestone is married with has 3 young sons. He recently exchanged London life for beautiful Herefordshire and is actively embracing country life.

Dr Milestone’s post-graduate MD thesis was entitled “The Immunomodulatory Role of Vitamin D in Inflammatory Bowel Disease – Dendritic cells and Homing”.  He studied at St Mark’s Hospital, conducting laboratory research and running tertiary IBD and IBS clinics for complex patients referred from other hospitals. Dr Milestone was awarded “Doctor of Medicine” by Imperial College London in 2011.

Throughout his training, Dr Milestone has had extensive experience of assessing and recruiting patients into Clinical Trials evaluating new treatments. He continues to maintain an interest in clinical research, currently evaluating a new stool test for bowel inflammation and recruiting patients to a genetics study.
