About
Andrew is an award‑winning Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract Surgeon, and Glaucoma Specialist based in Edinburgh, with more than 20 years’ experience in advanced eye surgery. He consults at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion and serves as the NHS Scotland National Lead for Eye Research, helping drive innovation and clinical excellence across the country.
He is also President of the UK and Eire Glaucoma Society (UKEGS) and a Visiting Professor at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, reflecting his internationally recognised expertise in glaucoma care and ophthalmic surgery.

Andrew achieved the highest examination score in Europe in his ophthalmic board exams, and is among a select group of surgeons to hold a Fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery (EUREQUO/ESCRS).
He is also one of the few ophthalmologists in Scotland to hold a Laser Refractive Surgery qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, allowing him to offer advanced laser‑based correction for refractive errors.

Performing more than 400 cataract operations each year, Andrew is one of Scotland’s most experienced cataract surgeons. He specialises in:

Andrew lives in Edinburgh with his wife and three daughters. Outside of clinical practice, he volunteers as a qualified assessor for the British Paralympic Association, supporting athletes competing at the highest level of para‑sport.
