Dr Allan Matthews

Dr Matthews is an experienced Consultant Dermatologist based in Scotland, offering expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of skin conditions in adults and children. He graduated in Medicine with Commendation from the University of Dundee in 2007 and completed his postgraduate medical training in Edinburgh, followed by specialist dermatology training in Glasgow. He has been a Consultant Dermatologist with NHS Fife since 2015.

Dr Matthews provides comprehensive dermatology care, including the diagnosis and management of common skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis, as well as more complex inflammatory and diagnostic skin disorders. He has a strong interest in skin cancer prevention, early diagnosis and skin cancer screening, and is highly committed to patient education to support early detection and long‑term skin health.

He leads the paediatric dermatology service within NHS Fife and has extensive experience in treating skin conditions affecting babies, children and adolescents. He also has a recognised specialist interest in male genital skin disease, offering discreet, expert assessment and evidence‑based treatment for sensitive and often under‑diagnosed conditions.

In addition, Dr Matthews has a specialist focus on sports dermatology. He is the Lead Dermatologist for the PGA European Tour and works closely with professional athletes. He understands the unique skin problems experienced by sportspeople and tailors treatment plans that take into account training demands, competition schedules and the impact of treatments on performance. This expertise makes him particularly well suited to treating athletes and physically active individuals with sport‑related skin conditions.

Dr Matthews is known for his thorough, patient‑centred approach, combining clinical expertise with clear communication to ensure patients feel informed and confident in their care.
