Dr Abdullah Mawas is a UK-trained Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist, who completed his specialty training in gastroenterology in 2011 through the East of England Deanery.
With over 13 years of focused experience in general gastroenterology and liver diseases, he has developed a particular interest in obesity management and minimally invasive endoscopic treatments in addition to treating non alcoholic fatty liver.
Dr Mawas has received advanced international training in bariatric endoscopy from leading centres in Brazil, Spain, Germany, and Italy, further enhancing his expertise in cutting-edge, non-surgical obesity interventions.
He currently serves as a Consultant at West Suffolk Hospital and holds and an Honorary Consultant post in Obesity Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals/Addenbrooke’s.
Dr Mawas is one of the few UK-based Bariatric Interventional Endoscopists, offering state-of-the-art, minimally invasive procedures such as:
- Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG)
- Pouch Reduction for weight regain following bariatric surgery
His approach is holistic and patient-centred. Dr Mawas is widely
trusted in both medical and non-invasive weight management, helping patients to
achieve a healthier weight for a long-term and a better wellbeing through a
tailored, evidence-based care.
