About
Professor Richard Pollok is a Consultant and Professor of Gastroenterology at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s University of London Medical School. He sees patients in the NHS and privately at Parkside Hospital.
He trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship gaining my PhD in the field of gut immunity and infection.
Professor Pollok's current research programme focuses on better methods of diagnosis and the epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, indigestion and heartburn, chronic diarrhoea, gut infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and screening for bowel/colon cancer.
He is an experienced therapeutic endoscopist and has performed many thousand gastroscopies and colonoscopies.
