About

Ms Tasmin Berman is a Consultant Ophthalmologist subspecialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery (including complex cataract surgery) at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

She graduated from Newcastle University Medical school and completed her ophthalmology training within the Mersey region, including a year-long subspeciality training at St Pauls Eye Hospital, Liverpool in glaucoma before completing a post-training glaucoma fellowship at the Prestigious Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, being trained by Mr Leon Au and Ms Cecilia Fenerty. 

Ms Berman is passionate about teaching and education. She has been appointed to the training faculty of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists teaching surgical skills to junior doctors, and is the college tutor for ophthalmology trainees at the Countess of Chester.

She is also actively involved in research projects, having published his work in peer-reviewed journals and presenting the outcomes at various national and international conferences.

  • Cataract surgery including routine and complex cataracts and combining with minor glaucoma surgery to reduce need for glaucoma eye drops
  • Glaucoma surgery including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, Preserflo, microinvasive glaucoma surgery
  • Glaucoma lasers including selective laser trabeculoplasty.

Other interests

Laser treatment including yag capsulotomy and yag peripheral iridotomy.

Personal interests

She lives in Cheshire with her husband, son and newest addition, Dash the dog. In her spare time, she loves gardening, growing things in her greenhouse and outdoor swimming.
