Miss Whitcroft graduated from Liverpool Medical School in 1981 and began her career in obstetrics and gynaecology with early roles in Bristol, followed by positions at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Homerton Hospital in London.
She became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1987 and went on to specialise in menopause and metabolic medicine as a research fellow at King’s College Hospital in 1989. Over the next four years, she contributed to academic research exploring the impact of menopause on cardiovascular health and osteoporosis, and helped trial emerging treatments aimed at reducing these risks.
In 1993, she was appointed senior registrar in obstetrics and gynaecology at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, before taking up her consultant post at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 1996.
She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2002.
