About
Mrs Maya Harris works as a urologist in the NHS in Warwick and Stratford Upon Avon Hospitals and privately at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital. She has a broad academic and practical experience in all aspects of urology. Her particular interests lie in bladder and prostate diseases and she is a member of Birmingham Prostate Clinic, a urological centre of excellence in the West Midlands.
She is one of the first urologists in the Midlands and Warwickshire to offer a novel minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) (prostatic urethral lift).
She is one of very few fully qualified female urologists and many patients, both male and female, have felt comfortable discussing with her problems of a most intimate nature.
After graduating with top honours from the Latvian Medical Academy in 1993, Maya Harris joined her husband in the UK and has spent most of her professional life in England.
In 2006 she won Campbell’s Challenge in Urological Knowledge, obtained FRCS (Urol) in 2007 and a Master of Science in Translational Medicine with distinction from Edinburgh University in 2011.
She is particularly experienced in the assessment and treatment of benign diseases of prostate, complex bladder dysfunction and diagnostic uro-oncology.

Research
Mrs Harris completed a dissertation in prostate cancer biomarkers as part of the degree of Master of Science in Translational Medicine.
Her other research interests included use of injections for treatment of bladder dysfunction, post-prostatectomy incontinence, prostate biopsies, bladder cancer diagnosis and ketamine-induced cystitis.
