About
Mr McClatchie graduated with distinction from Imperial College in 2003. He underwent basic surgical training in London while completing an MSc at Imperial College London. His Higher Surgical Training took place in the South West Thames region, where he had a very broad exposure to different philosophies and approaches to managing a wide range of hip and knee conditions. During this period he published scientific articles related to this field and presented his work at international conferences.
He undertook a specialist fellowship in Young Adult hip and knee conditions in Cambridge and London, along with continuing to work on treatments for arthritis of the hip and knee. Upon finishing his fellowship, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Epsom & St Helier NHS Trust in 2015. He has been the lead for the management of hip fracture surgery since then and has seen the unit recognised nationally for its excellent outcomes following surgery. He is now the Clinical Lead for the Trauma & Orthopaedic department and continues to work in trauma surgery along with elective hip and knee surgery.
Dr McClatchie only sees adults.
Special interests
All hip conditions, including young adult hip pathology, tendinopathy, cartilage damage and arthritis, hip replacement surgery. Knee injuries and mensical trauma, arthritis of the knee, knee replacement surgery.
Personal interests
Mr McClatchie likes being outdoors, especially on two wheels. He will some day come good on his plan to stop competitive cycling.

Reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (formerly JBJS(Br)) since 2011.
BA in Natural Science, and MSc in Surgical Technology at Imperial College. First class honours for dissertation “A Systematic Review of the Management of Periprosthetic Fractures of the Hip” Mr McClatchie has published research articles in a range of international journals, written a book chapter, and presented research at international conferences, along with being an invited speaker.
Mr McClatchie continues to teach locally and at medical school. He is very active in maintaining the standard of hip fracture care and recruits patients for national research trials.
