Mr Vinay Jasani

Mr Jasani is a highly experienced Consultant Spinal Surgeon with specialist fellowship training in both orthopaedic and neurosurgical spinal surgery. He has been a consultant since 2003 and treats the full range of adult and children’s spinal conditions. His work includes neck (cervical) and lower‑back (lumbar) surgery, complex spinal reconstruction, and children’s spinal surgery such as scoliosis.

He has played a key role in developing spinal surgery services across Staffordshire within both the NHS and the private sector. His approach focuses on using the least invasive method suitable for each patient’s condition. He encourages patients to be fully involved in decisions about their care and believes in offering a choice of treatments whenever possible. When non‑surgical options are appropriate, he works closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors.

Leadership Roles

Mr Jasani holds several important leadership positions locally, regionally and nationally. These include:

• Associate Clinical Director for Craniospinal Services at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust
• Chair of the West Midlands Regional Spine Network
• Spine Surgery Specialty Advisor for the national GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time) programme
• Member of the Complex Reference Group for national NHS spinal services

He has previously served on the executive board of the British Association of Spine Surgeons and continues to serve on the executive committee of the British Scoliosis Society, where he has recently been elected President‑Elect. Through these roles, he contributes to shaping national standards for spinal surgery and promoting best practice across the UK.
