Mr Ulrich Meyer-Bothling is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, specialising in complex cataract surgery, refractive lens surgery with multifocal and toric lens implants, glaucoma and medical retina, including age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
He trained at the Universities of Hamburg, Oxford, Yale and Melbourne and undertook post fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Previously he was the Clinical Director of the Diabetic Eye Screening Programme in Surrey. Mr Meyer-Bothling has undertaken extensive basic science and clinical research in glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy and is presently the chief investigator for the national diabetic maculopathy study (“CANDLE”) involving the use of the Noctura 400 Eye Mask.
He has a keen interest in training young surgeons and regularly lectures at ophthalmology conferences in Europe and the US.
