About
Mr Sandeep Chauhan is a consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon based at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital. He's a genuinely significant figure in his field; he pioneered the use of computer and robotic assistance in knee surgery and was the first to introduce both techniques to the UK and to Sussex specifically. As a result of his work he was awarded the Presidential Medal from the British Knee Society.
He's fellowship-trained in joint replacement, complex sports ligament reconstruction and meniscal surgery, with fellowships completed in both the US and Australia. His practice spans the full range of knee problems, from sports injuries in younger, active patients through to arthritic conditions requiring replacement surgery. He has a particular personal interest in professional sport, and has treated professional footballers and cricketers in Sussex over the past 15 years.

His credentials in robotic knee surgery are hard to overstate, he introduced the technique to Sussex and has now performed over 950 robotic joint replacement cases, making him one of the most experienced surgeons in the UK. That level of experience in a relatively specialist area is uncommon, and it's reflected in the range of patients who seek him out, from elite athletes with ligament injuries to patients in their 70s dealing with advanced arthritis.
His fellowships in the US and Australia gave him exposure to some of the leading knee surgeons in the world, and he undertook over 250 international lectures. That international training underpins a practice that covers both the technical complexity of revision surgery and the precision demands of sports knee reconstruction.
Mr Chauhan has been practising since 1992 and holds MBBS, FRCS and FRCS (Orth.) qualifications. He completed specialist fellowships in joint replacement, sports ligament reconstruction and meniscal surgery in both the US and Australia, and is a member of the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgery alongside his UK professional memberships.
Mr Chauhan does not see patients under 18 years old.
