About
I am a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon with over 30 years of experience, diagnosing and treating ENT conditions in adults and children. My goal is to provide clear answers and tailored treatment.
I am fully accredited as an ENT Specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC) and have served as a consultant since 2002.
After 19 years as an NHS Consultant at the Countess of Chester Hospital, I now work full-time in private practice at Nuffield Health The Grosvenor Hospital in Chester.
Professional background
I began my ENT career in 1991 as a junior doctor in Sheffield, followed by extensive specialist training across:
- Sheffield
- Liverpool
- Manchester
I also gained international experience through ENT fellowships in:
- Paris, France
- Marseille, France
- Béziers, France
- Gothenburg, Sweden
During my NHS career at the Countess of Chester Hospital (2003–2021), I held the following roles:
- Lead Clinician for ENT
- Senior Consultant for the department
- Educational Supervisor for ENT trainees
- Senior Appraiser for consultant colleagues
I also served on the Nuffield Medical Advisory Committee as ENT Lead for over 12 years.
I have published research on Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA), hearing devices fixed to the bone behind the ear, and have presented this work at international meetings.
My approach
I take time to understand your symptoms and concerns, conduct thorough examinations, and arrange tests only when necessary. I’ll explain your condition clearly and discuss all treatment options.
Whenever possible, I’ll prioritise simple or non-surgical treatments before considering surgery.
My aim is to provide safe, modern care that inspires confidence in your treatment.
