About
Mr Raj Sahemey is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee arthritis. He offers a comprehensive range of personalised treatments, including primary and complex hip and knee replacement surgery.
He has advanced skills in revision surgery and regularly treats patients with problematic joint replacements, periprosthetic joint infections, bone loss, and periprosthetic fractures.
Mr Sahemey holds an established NHS practice at University Hospitals Birmingham, where he is the Lead for Complex Joint Replacement and Periprosthetic Joint Infection. He frequently receives referrals from other hospitals across the region for these challenging cases.
He graduated with Distinction from Barts and the Royal London Medical School, then completed specialist orthopaedic training in the West Midlands, earning MRCS and FRCS with the Royal College of Surgeons.
He completed fellowship training at the internationally recognised ENDO-Klinik in Hamburg and the Pelvic and Revision Arthroplasty Fellowship at the Centre for Hip Surgery, Wrightington Hospital.
Mr Sahemey is committed to day-case surgery and enhanced recovery pathways, using minimally invasive joint replacement techniques to promote faster rehabilitation and better patient outcomes.
He is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Hip Society, where he serves as a mentor and contributes to the training of future orthopaedic surgeons.
