About

Mr Raghu Vindlacheruvu is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. He specialises in assessment and surgery of brain and spinal disorders. In the brain he has expertise in vascular neurosurgery (aneurysms, AVM, cavernoma) brain tumours, hydrocephalus, and trauma. In the spine he has a large volume practice for degenerative conditions with operations including cervical disc replacement, discectomy, foraminotomy and laminectomy. And in the lumbar spine discectomy, decompression and laminectomy.

Mr Vindlacheruvu has been an NHS consultant since 2006, working at Queen's Hospital in Romford. He was Head of Department (2015-2022) demitting to pursue National roles to benefit British Neurosurgery and training.  He was elected president of the British Neurovascular Group, which gives him an opportunity to shape clinical services at a national level. He has been recruited to the National Neurosurgery Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee, and is the National Neurosurgery lead in the Green Surgery Project.

Mr Vindlacheruvu has a large volume clinical practice. He has treated quite a few of the staff at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. Excellent results stem from careful patient assessment and well performed operations. Consultations include a demonstration of scans and a careful explanation of treatment options, including aims, risks and benefits. He follows the very robust process for consent. All cases are added to appropriate national datasets with patient consent when indicated.

Mr Vindlacheruvu follows an evidence-based practice and makes good use of multidisciplinary team meetings. His practice evolves according to the latest standards. Generally spinal operations are associated with small wounds, rapid mobilisation with simply an overnight stay. He works closely with the physiotherapy team to get the best results for patients.

His aim is to restore people to normal activities. His sporting interests give him insight into exercises appropriate to promote back muscle strength, develop core stability, and restore range of motion. He carefully audits his results.
