About
Mr Oliver Bowes is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. His primary interests are Cataract Surgery including Toric & Premium Intraocular Lenses; Refractive Lens Exchange; Corneal Disease; Keratoconus; External Eye Disease; Dry Eyes and Blepharitis.
Mr Bowes is also a Consultant at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust where he provides a general ophthalmology service and specialty services in corneal disease as well as being the clinical lead for cataract surgery.
Mr Bowes has extensive training in refractive cataract surgery aiming to significantly reduce the dependence of spectacles after surgery. He completed two corneal fellowships at Cambridge University Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Mr Bowes qualified from University College London Medical School with Distinction in Medical Sciences in 2009 and won several academic prizes as well as a commendation for the prestigious Duke Elder Prize for Ophthalmology. He continues to be engaged in research and teaching and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. He frequently lectures in the UK and has run several wetlab surgical training courses for trainee surgeons. He is also a surgical trainer for London ophthalmology trainees.
