Mr Nick Smith is a consultant specialist knee surgeon. His private practice is based at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital and his NHS practice is at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
Having done prestigious fellowships in Exeter and Bristol, Mr Smith visited world famous surgeons in the USA to learn sub-specialist surgical techniques that he has adapted and uses in his practice. He has a sub-specialist interest in knee ligament reconstruction operations, cartilage restoration procedures, osteotomy and partial or total knee replacement.
Mr Smith has a strong research interest, having completed a PhD in meniscal transplantation, and being the first person to complete a randomised controlled trial on the subject worldwide. He has over 40 peer reviewed publications, book chapters and review articles on knee surgery. He has also presented to international audiences on the subject. He now has one of the highest volume meniscal transplantation practices in the UK, and performs meniscal repair surgery, including meniscal root repairs.
